Many homeowners in North Lauderdale use their garage doors every day, but rarely take the time to carefully examine and inspect its condition and performance. At Coast 2 Coast Garage Door, our commercial and residential garage door experts have dealt with every garage door repair you can think of. While there are times when you may be able to fix your garage door issue yourself, we always recommend reaching out to a professional for any repairs and inspections you may need. If your garage door hasn’t been functioning as well as it used to, it could be due to one of the top contributors below.

The Garage Door Transmitter Batteries Are Dead

While this may seem like an obvious fix, if the batteries in your garage door transmitter are low or out of energy, your transmitter will not work. When your transmitter’s batteries are dead, it won’t be able to send a signal to your garage door system to open or close the door. If you think this could be the cause of your garage door problem, there are a few things you can do to double check the issue.

First, check the transmitter on the wall inside of your garage. If you press the transmitter’s button and the garage door still opens and closes as it should, you likely need to replace your transmitter’s battery. The process of changing your transmitter is relatively simple and in most cases you can easily slide the door open on the back of your transmitter to replace the battery. Some garage door systems may require you to screw the battery door in for added security. Once you have removed the old batteries from your garage door transmitter, replace them with fully charged ones. Make sure the plus and minus signs appropriately line up with your batteries, otherwise the battery will not work.

The Garage Door Track Is Not Aligned

Many garage door problems we see are caused by garage door tracks coming out of alignment. In order for your garage door to open and close in a seamless fashion, the metal track that your door runs on must be properly aligned. If you happen to see gaps in between the rollers and rail, or aesthetic bends in the rails themselves, you could have a serious problem. A garage door professional will be able to inspect your garage door and realign your track, should there be any noticeable issues.
