Over the years, our overhead door installation team in Fort Lauderdale has seen more garages
than we can count. Here are our tips for organizing your garage:

Get rid of junk

The first thing you should do before you can truly start organizing is to get rid of anything that you no longer need. Many people use the garage as the final dumping ground for junk that they don’t want inside their house. Until you get rid of unused items, you won’t be able to truly organize your garage.

Elevate your bicycles

Bicycles can take up a lot of prime floor space in your garage. Free up this space while still keeping your bikes easily accessible by installing some wall hangers, or a ceiling mounted pulley hanger. Both of these options are easy to install and will give you much more floor space to work with.

Hang your yard tools

Get all of your shovels, brooms, rakes, hoes, and other long-handled yard tools out of the corner and up on the wall. This will make them easier to access, and give you more floor space for cabinets, trash cans, shelving, and more.

Install adequate shelving

Garage shelves come in a wide variety of styles nowadays. There are shelving options for every aesthetic and every budget, so there is really no excuse not to have adequate shelving in your garage. Shelves are essential for maximizing the space in your garage.

Divide and conquer

Cleaning out and reorganizing your garage can seem like an insurmountable task. You probably won’t be able to knock it out in one day, and that is okay. Try dividing up the key tasks you need to take care of over several weekends. Each smaller task will seem easily conquerable, and before you know it, your garage will be clean and organized!

Hopefully, these tips will help you to get your garage in the best shape it has ever been in. Need a new garage door installed, or repairs made to your existing door or opener? Contact us today to schedule your free inspection and quote!
